Trades and home services
The call that comes while you are up a ladder.
VoxHive answers on the first ring, quotes your published callout charge and standard job prices, checks your availability and books the visit. You read the summary when you come down.
The problem
You cannot answer the phone with both hands full.
The phone rings when you are halfway through a job, on a roof, under a sink, or driving between calls. Answering means stopping work. Not answering means the enquiry goes to whoever picks up first.
People ringing a plumber or an electrician are usually ringing three. The one who answers and gives a straight price gets the work, and it is rarely the one who calls back at seven in the evening.
By the time you have finished for the day there are four missed calls, no voicemails, and no way of knowing which of them was a boiler replacement and which was a dripping tap.
A worked conversation
How a real call goes.
Agent
Good afternoon, Kellner Heating. You are through to our AI assistant. How can I help?
Caller
I need my boiler serviced.
Agent
I can book that in. Is it a combi boiler, and roughly how old is it?
Caller
It's a combi, about six years old.
Agent
An annual service is ninety pounds including the certificate, and takes about an hour. I have Wednesday morning between eight and ten, or Friday afternoon between one and three.
Caller
Wednesday morning suits.
Agent
Booked for Wednesday morning, eight to ten. Can I take the address and a postcode?
Caller
Yes, it's 14 Marlow Close, B29 6TH.
Agent
Thank you. Your reference is V H dash 4 P 9 R 1. I will text the confirmation to this number.
Every answer here comes from documents the business uploaded. Where the agent does not have an answer, it says so.

Where a person is still better
The agent will not quote for work it cannot see. Anything that needs eyes on a job gets booked as a visit or a survey, not priced over the phone.
It will not commit to a price on a complex job. Full rewires, boiler replacements and anything involving access or structure are captured as an enquiry with the detail you need, and left for you to price.
It will not handle an emergency alone. Gas smells, leaks and anything unsafe are escalated to you immediately, and the agent reads out whatever safety instruction you have given it while it does.

FAQ
Questions from trades and home services.
Only the prices you have given it. Callout charges, hourly rates and standard jobs are quoted exactly as published. Anything that depends on what the job actually looks like is booked as a visit instead.
